Important: The Printlane attribute must be set to Show. If it is set to Do not show, the designer will not be activated.

2.2. Add Text Field option to store the design reference

When a customer clicks Add to Cart in the Printlane Designer, a unique reference for their design is generated. To be able to store this reference in the shopping cart, a Text Field must be added.

  • The option must be of type Text Field.

  • It should be named design reference

  • It must be optional (not required).

The option in which the design reference is stored

That's it! Open the product page in your Ecwid store. It will display a button Personalize instead of Add to cart. You can customize the product by clicking on the Personalize button.

Read our full guide on creating a product template if you like to create and link your own templates.

3. Link a Printlane Template to a product variant (optional)

This step is useful if you want to:

  • Enable the Printlane Designer only for specific product variants.

  • Assign different templates to different variants.

You can manage this efficiently using Ecwid’s bulk editor.

3.1. Edit a product in the bulk editor

3.2. Remove or change the value of the printlane attribute

Removing the value disables the designer, updating the value loads a different template.
