Using artwork groups

Learn how to use artwork groups in Printlane Studio to control which designs customers can select in the designer.

Updated over a week ago

Artwork can be optionally organized into groups that are not visible to customers.

These groups help control which artwork is available in the designer. For example, you can create groups such as:

  • Black and White – Useful for designs on glass materials where color printing is not possible.

  • Engraved – Ideal for artwork intended for engraving, ensuring only suitable designs are available.

  • Full Color – For designs that require vibrant, multi-colored artwork.

To manage artwork groups, navigate to Artwork in the left-hand panel of Printlane Studio. Then, open the Groups tab.

An artwork group consists only of a name, which is never visible to the end user. Once you’ve created a group, you can assign artwork to it by editing the artwork and selecting the newly created group.

You can then use the artwork group when editing an artwork layer in a template. These layers have a setting called Limit selection to artwork groups, where you can add one or more groups.

With this setting enabled, customers will only see artwork from the specified groups.
